The Billingshurst & District Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide charitable organisation founded in 1905. The Billingshurst & District Club received its official charter in 1988 joining a worldwide organisation of 29,000 clubs in 161 countries. Our Club upholds the mission and vision of Rotary International, serving communities to help solve their toughest challenges. Working with both local and global projects, the Billingshurst & District Rotary Club strives to achieve positive change and enhance the lives of others.
Our club is currently shut down for regular face to face meetings due to Covid 19 restrictions. We hope to resume regular meetings when restrictions are lifted.
WE WORK WITH THE WEALD SCHOOL IN ORGANISING COMPETITIONS:
Public Speaking, Young Chef, Young Photographer, Young Musician, Young Writer.
WE SUPPORT OUR LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS:
Inter school competitions, chess clubs, reading.
WE WORK WITH OTHER LOCAL ORGANISATIONS:
Such as the Billingshurst Partnership, and Ingfield Manor School; we support Chestnut Tree Hospice; and we work with the Scouts and Guides in putting on Billingshurst annual summer show.
WE SUPPORT OVERSEAS ORGANISATIONS:
We are instrumental in raising funds for Children of Sumatra – a medical charity that treats children with cleft palates. We are a major supporter of the David Tilley Kilolo Foundation, which supports St Michael’s school in Tanzania. We help fund relief for natural disasters.
WE RAISE MONEY FOR SUPPORTING OUR CHARITIES:
We also organise Quizzes, Race Nights and many more activities.
We support Rotary’s own Charity, which sponsors international Scholarships for young adults and vaccination programmes especially for the eradication of polio worldwide.
