An inspirational talk from the man behind the Weald School Green Car, which became the National winner in the Greenpower Championship, Michael Joseph*. He will not only talk about the project itself, but also the inspiration it gave to a cohort of Weald pupils, many of whom have gone on to successful careers in leading Technology Companies.
This talk will follow a meal at The Blacksmith’s Arms, 7.30 for 8.00pm, at £13 a head

*Michael Joseph is an ex Rolls-Royce Aero Engine Apprentice and became a Performance Engineer on various jet engines. When his two young sons wanted to play on his lathe he found the ideal project, a full size, single seat electric racing car. He persuaded the Weald School to enter the Greenpower Challenge where success followed success. It was a 15 year journey of inspiration, excitement, and cutting edge development. Since retiring as a Senior Captain of British Airways Michael has taken up number of hobbies, including sculpture and painting. One of his works can be seen in the downstairs waiting room of the Dentist in Billingshurst.
Youth Speaks Competition
Another successful Youth Speaks Competition at The Weald School on Thursday January 24th.
We engaged the services of Leon Nettley (Millais retired Head), Jamie Girling Budd (retired Retail Business owner) and Blaise Tapp (Editor WS County Times) to judge and choose a winning team to go forward to the District Semi Final.
Ellen Orrell, Emma King and Max Wainewright were chosen to represent the school and they duly performed admirably in the Semi Final, but were unlucky in not progressing on to the District Final.
